Flyadeal makes Mumbai its second Indian gateway
MUMBAI/RIYADH: Saudi low-cost carrier flyadeal will begin direct Riyadh-Mumbai flights on October 3, making Mumbai its second Indian gateway after Hyderabad. The airline will operate five weekly flights using Airbus A320neos, adding more than 7,400 seats a month between Riyadh and Mumbai. The 186-seat all-Economy aircraft will also connect passengers through Riyadh to Jeddah, Madinah and Dammam.
The expansion follows flyadeal’s recent entry into the Indian market through Riyadh–Hyderabad services.
It also comes against a backdrop of rapidly changing India–Saudi aviation relations. Air India and Riyadh Air have signed a codeshare agreement, highlighting the strategic importance of the corridor.
Saudi Arabia is simultaneously making travel easier through new tourism and pilgrimage mechanisms, including a one-year multiple-entry Umrah visa and a Package Visa system.
Why it matters: More Saudi-India capacity strengthens both business and leisure flows while creating additional options for religious tourism, VFR traffic and wider Gulf connectivity.
