Egypt Starts QR-Based Digital Visa-on-Arrival Trial

Egypt has begun piloting a digital visa-on-arrival system across all terminals at Cairo International Airport. The new process replaces the traditional paper visa sticker with a QR code that can be generated through an official portal, mobile application or airport self-service machine. Travellers or authorised agencies may complete the process before departure, during the flight or after landing. The code can be presented digitally or as a printed copy and remains valid for 48 hours. The digital visa costs USD 36, including the existing USD 30 visa charge and a USD 6 issuing fee. Paper visas will remain available during the initial trial.
