VFS Global and Malta Expand Partnership Across Mobility and Skills Development

VFS Global has expanded its long-standing relationship with the Government of Malta through a new Joint Declaration of Intent covering citizen services, consular support, skills assessment, workforce development and international education. The agreement brings together Malta’s Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, Identità and the Institute of Tourism Studies under a broader cooperation framework.

The partnership goes beyond traditional visa facilitation. It will support Maltese citizens living overseas through consular and citizen services, while also expanding skills assessment and workforce development initiatives. The collaboration with the Institute of Tourism Studies, which previously focused on hospitality and tourism-sector interviews, will now extend to other areas where Malta faces talent requirements.

For the travel industry, the development is significant because visa facilitation is increasingly becoming part of a wider mobility ecosystem involving education, employment and tourism. Malta is positioning itself not only as a European destination but also as a market seeking skilled international talent. The expanded partnership could therefore create stronger links between tourism, education and workforce mobility.
