India Expands e-Visa Entry Network to 88 International Ports

India has expanded its e-Visa entry network by adding 11 international ports, taking the total number of designated entry points to 88. The latest expansion includes nine land ports and two airports — Bhopal and Tirupati — allowing eligible foreign travellers holding e-Visas to enter through a wider range of locations.

For India’s inbound travel trade, the change could have implications beyond immigration convenience. A broader entry network gives DMCs and tour operators greater flexibility to design regional and multi-destination itineraries without automatically routing international visitors through the country’s largest gateways.

The move also strengthens the commercial case for developing tourism products around secondary cities and border regions. For B2B sellers, easier access can support more customised itineraries, improve regional distribution and potentially spread inbound visitor spending beyond established metropolitan hubs. Visa facilitation is increasingly becoming part of India’s changing travel market rather than simply an administrative measure.
