Qantas Completes Ultra-Long-Haul Aircraft Trial

Qantas has successfully completed a 19-hour trial flight of its first Airbus A350-1000ULR, moving its non-stop Sydney–London plans closer to launch. The aircraft covered approximately 17,000 kilometres between Toulouse and Melbourne, attracting more than 67,000 viewers on a flight-tracking platform. Engineers tested onboard systems and an additional 20,000-litre fuel tank designed to support flights lasting up to 22 hours. Subject to regulatory approval, the first Project Sunrise services are expected to begin in October 2027. Qantas plans to receive 12 ultra-long-range aircraft, each configured with 238 seats across First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
