Maharashtra Targets ₹1 Lakh Crore in Tourism Investment

Maharashtra has outlined a tourism roadmap aimed at attracting ₹1 lakh crore in private investment and creating 18 lakh jobs by 2034. The strategy will develop tourism circuits around forts, Buddhist heritage, wildlife reserves, the Konkan coastline, Nashik’s wine region and rural experiences. Plans include a dedicated MICE Convention Bureau, expanded cruise and yacht tourism, new ropeways, convention centres and adventure projects. Sindhudurg may also receive an underwater naval museum and artificial reef using the decommissioned INS Guldar. Tourism investment offices are planned in Mumbai, Dubai and Singapore, while the MahaAtithi platform will provide visitor data and connect industry stakeholders.
