UPI Goes Live in Cambodia: A Game Changer for Indian Travelers

In a significant move for cross-border tourism, India and Cambodia have officially launched UPI-based digital payment connectivity today . The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) partnered with ACLEDA Bank to allow Indian tourists to pay seamlessly at merchant locations across Cambodia using Indian UPI apps.

Why it matters for B2B

This reduces friction for the large volume of Indian tourists visiting Cambodia, making destinations like Siem Reap and Phnom Penh more accessible. For Southeast Asian businesses, it integrates Indian travelers into the local digital payment ecosystem .

As of June 2026, UPI is accepted for merchant payments in 11 countries. The most recent addition is Cambodia, which went live on June 2, 2026 .
