Oman Air Appoints Nasser Al Sharji as New CEO, Begins Next Phase of Transformation

Oman Air is set for a leadership change as Nasser Al Sharji takes over as Chief Executive Officer from 1 September 2026, succeeding Con Korfiatis. The appointment comes at an important point for the national carrier, which has been working to improve financial sustainability, operational efficiency and its competitive position.

Al Sharji brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across aviation, logistics, oil and gas, and government services. Most recently, he served as CEO of Transom Handling and Acting CEO of Oman Airports Management Company. His experience across Oman’s aviation ecosystem could prove valuable as the airline enters its next stage of transformation.

The leadership transition follows a period of significant network development. Earlier this year, Oman Air launched five new routes in a single month, taking its network to 49 destinations and reinforcing its focus on direct international connectivity. Oman Air’s five-route expansion

For the Indian travel trade, stronger connectivity with Oman remains particularly relevant as the region continues to evolve as an outbound and MICE market. The wider India travel market is also being reshaped by changing airfares, connectivity and traveller preferences.

Korfiatis will remain with Oman Air as Advisor to the CEO, providing continuity during the transition.
