Navi Mumbai Airport Begins International Operations with Abu Dhabi Flight

Navi Mumbai International Airport has officially stepped onto the global aviation map with the launch of its first scheduled international flight. Operated by Air India Express, the new service connects Navi Mumbai directly with Abu Dhabi, offering passengers across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region an additional and convenient gateway to the United Arab Emirates.

The airline will operate three weekly flights, providing greater flexibility for leisure travellers, business professionals, and the growing Indian diaspora travelling between India and the UAE.

A Major Milestone for Navi Mumbai International Airport

The international launch comes less than 200 days after the airport commenced domestic operations on December 25, 2025. During this short period, Navi Mumbai International Airport has rapidly expanded its domestic network, connecting passengers to 46 destinations across India.

The airport has already handled more than 2.3 million passengers while supporting approximately 150 aircraft movements every day, reflecting the increasing demand for air travel in one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.

Strengthening India-UAE Connectivity

The new Abu Dhabi route strengthens aviation ties between India and the UAE, one of the country’s busiest international travel corridors. The service is expected to benefit tourists, corporate travellers, and families while reducing congestion at Mumbai’s existing international airport.

With modern infrastructure and enhanced passenger facilities, Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to play a significant role in supporting the region’s future travel demand and boosting international connectivity.

Cargo Operations Also Take Flight

The inaugural international service also marked another important achievement—the airport successfully handled its first international perishable export shipment, officially launching global cargo operations.

This development is expected to create new opportunities for exporters by enabling faster transportation of agricultural products, seafood, pharmaceuticals, and other time-sensitive goods to international markets.

Looking Ahead

The commencement of international operations represents a major step in Navi Mumbai International Airport’s long-term growth strategy. As more international routes are introduced, the airport is expected to become a key aviation hub supporting tourism, trade, and economic development across western India.

Travellers can expect improved connectivity, greater airline options, and a smoother travel experience as the airport continues to expand its domestic and international network.
