India Hotel Transactions Nearly Triple to $493 Million in H1 2026
India’s hotel property transactions surged nearly threefold year-on-year to $493 million in the first half of 2026, prompting property consultancy JLL to raise its full-year forecast to approximately $1.1 billion, up 94% from $567 million in 2025.
Tier-II and Tier-III cities accounted for around 60% of transaction activity, highlighting growing investor interest beyond India’s major metropolitan markets. Luxury hotels led the segment, contributing 52% of first-half transaction volumes, followed by upscale properties at 35%.
Transactions reached $345 million in the first quarter, compared with $98 million during the same period last year. India ranked fifth in Asia-Pacific hotel transaction activity for the first half, reflecting the growing significance of its hospitality investment market.
The figures point to sustained investor interest in India’s hotel sector, with emerging destinations and smaller cities gaining prominence alongside established tourism and business hubs.
