Kinnaur Kailash Yatra Resumes with Enhanced Safety Protocols

After weeks of uncertainty, the highly anticipated Kinnaur Kailash Yatra in Himachal Pradesh commenced today, 30 July. The pilgrimage, one of India’s most demanding high-altitude treks, was postponed from its original July date after a safety assessment flagged serious risks including active glaciers, unstable boulders, and landslide-prone stretches. To manage safety, authorities have implemented a daily cap of 375 pilgrims and mandated a compulsory medical fitness certificate. The 17,000-feet trek is now open via the cleared Tangling–Meling Khata–Cave route.
