Frontier Airlines Plans Fleet-Wide Starlink Internet
Frontier Airlines has announced plans to introduce Starlink satellite internet across its fleet, becoming the first ultra-low-cost airline in the United States to adopt the high-speed connectivity service.
The first Starlink-equipped aircraft are expected to enter commercial service in 2027, marking a significant shift in the budget airline’s customer experience strategy.
Meeting Growing Passenger Expectations
Budget airlines have traditionally avoided onboard Wi-Fi to keep operating costs low. However, demand for reliable inflight connectivity continues to grow, especially among business travellers and digital professionals.
By adopting Starlink, Frontier aims to provide faster internet access while improving its competitiveness against larger US airlines.
A Broader Premium Strategy
The airline has also introduced business-class seating and enhanced its loyalty programme to attract higher-value customers.
Frontier now joins United Airlines, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Alaska Airlines, all of which have announced plans to offer Starlink-powered inflight connectivity.
As passenger expectations evolve, internet access is becoming an increasingly important factor when choosing an airline.
