Qatar Records 2.61 Million Visitors Through September 2026
Qatar welcomed 2.61 million visitors during the first nine months of 2026, with September alone accounting for approximately 276,000 arrivals. September traffic was 1.1% higher than the same month last year, indicating continued momentum for the destination despite an increasingly competitive regional tourism market.
The Gulf Cooperation Council remains Qatar’s largest source region, contributing 40.9% of total arrivals, or around 1.069 million visitors. Asia and Oceania followed with 548,000 visitors, representing 21% of the total, while Europe contributed another 538,000, or 20.6%.
The Americas accounted for 7.3% of arrivals, while other Arab markets contributed 7%.
The diversity of Qatar’s visitor base is strategically important as the destination continues to develop beyond traditional stopover traffic. Qatar has been investing in events, sports, luxury hospitality, cultural attractions and family experiences to encourage longer stays and higher visitor spending.
For Indian travel advisors, the country continues to offer strong potential as both a standalone destination and a short-break or stopover option, particularly through its extensive air connectivity and growing premium tourism proposition.
