Indian Arrivals to Japan Rise 22.9% in First Half

Japan welcomed 210,300 Indian visitors during the first half of 2026, representing growth of 22.9% over the corresponding period last year. May set a new monthly record with 56,500 arrivals from India, while June also registered strong double-digit growth. Seasonal demand around cherry blossoms, family summer holidays and improved flight availability helped support the increase. Direct connectivity has expanded through new and upgraded services linking Delhi and Mumbai with Tokyo. The performance puts Japan on course to exceed the 315,100 Indian arrivals recorded during the whole of 2025. Families, senior travellers and independently planned holidays are becoming increasingly important parts of the market.
