Indian Domestic Air Travel Crosses 1.53 Crore Passengers in May
India’s domestic aviation market showed strong momentum in May, with airlines carrying 1.53 crore passengers during the month. This was more than 11% higher than April’s 1.38 crore passengers and reflected a 9.49% year-on-year increase. IndiGo remained the market leader with a 64.9% share, while the Air India Group improved its share to 25.6%. Akasa Air stood at 5.8% and SpiceJet at 2.5%. The numbers indicate that domestic flying continues to benefit from summer travel, business movement and regional connectivity. However, operational pressure remained visible, with cancellations, delays and denied boarding affecting thousands of passengers.
