Trust Gap Threatens AI’s Business Travel Revolution, FCM Summit Reveals
New poll exposes why 52% of travel decision-makers are hitting pause on AI adoption
SINGAPORE, 28 September 2026 – Business travel’s AI ambitions are colliding with a trust deficit, according to a live poll at FCM Travel’s Singapore Summit, where over 100 industry leaders gathered under the theme Intelligence that Travels.
More than half of attendees (52%) cited data privacy and security concerns as their primary barrier to expanding AI use, while 47% questioned the accuracy of AI-generated recommendations—a wake-up call for an industry racing toward automation.
Yet the summit revealed a path forward. When travel disruptions strike, 73% of decision-makers favour a consultant-led model with AI working behind the scenes, underscoring that human expertise remains irreplaceable.
Vicki Parris, Managing Director of FCM Travel Asia, framed the shift bluntly: managed travel must move “beyond controlling costs and enforcing policy to build resilience.” Prabu Sangar, Director of Technology Operations and Integrations, added: “Trust is a design choice… the right guardrails give businesses confidence to innovate responsibly.” Ryan Bradnock, Director of Customer Operations, joined a duty-of-care panel with International SOS examining crisis readiness.
FCM’s Sam platform exemplifies this balance—connecting traveller profiles, policy, and real-time data across self-service and consultant touchpoints.
Business travel is increasingly becoming a technology-led environment, with AI moving from trip suggestions towards actual business travel booking.
