BRICS Theatre Festival 2026 Inaugurated in New Delhi
NEW DELHI, October 12, 2026: The grand inauguration of the BRICS Theatre Festival 2026 took place today at the National School of Drama (NSD), marking a historic moment for international cultural diplomacy. Organised by the Ministry of Culture under India’s BRICS Presidency, the three-day cultural extravaganza runs from October 12 to 14, 2026.
Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, addressed the opening ceremony. Centred around the theme ‘Shared Stories, Shared Futures’, the event serves as a unified platform bringing together theatrical traditions, diverse cultural heritage, and shared human sensitivities.
The festival unites more than 100 theatre practitioners, scholars, and delegates across nine countries—including India, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, and Indonesia. Staged across premier venues like Abhimanch and Kamani Auditorium, this significant initiative aims to deepen people-to-people ties, strengthen creative collaborations, and inject fresh vitality into global artistic exchange.
