BRICS Tourism Ministers Unite Under the Jaipur Declaration

The BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting, held under India’s Chairship, concluded with the unanimous adoption of the Jaipur Declaration, a landmark framework aimed at revolutionizing tourism cooperation among the bloc’s nine members. The declaration, themed “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” focuses on four key pillars: Artificial Intelligence in tourism, sustainable practices, skill development, and seamless travel facilitation.

India’s Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who presided over the meeting, emphasized the sector’s role in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat by 2047, stating that tourism can extend economic growth beyond urban centres to towns and remote regions. Bilateral discussions on the sidelines with Brazil, Iran, South Africa, and the UAE signaled a strong intent to convert policy into action.
