Siem Reap Forum Focuses on Adventure Tourism and Destination Branding Amid Visitor Decline

The Cambodia Branding Forum 2026 brought together 131 registered stakeholders from tourism, hospitality, creative industries, community organisations, education, conservation, and sports to discuss adventure tourism, community engagement, and destination branding.

The forum’s urgency is underscored by a 27.61% decline in international visitors to Angkor Archaeological Park during the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Ticket revenue fell 25.90% to approximately US$24.2 million. Participants identified opportunities involving cycling, hiking, rural exploration, waterways, food, spirituality, wellness, and contemporary creativity to broaden Siem Reap’s appeal beyond temple visits.

Trade angle: The initiative signals an effort to diversify the Siem Reap proposition. Adventure activities and community-led experiences could support longer stays and more varied itineraries, provided local capacity, safety, and conservation requirements are addressed.
