Hunnu Air Launches Direct Ulaanbaatar–Delhi Flights

Mongolian airline Hunnu Air has launched a weekly non-stop service between Ulaanbaatar and New Delhi, creating a direct air bridge between India and Mongolia for the first time in this operating pattern.

The service began on September 28, with the inaugural flight arriving at Delhi’s Terminal 3 at 7:20 am before returning to Ulaanbaatar later that afternoon. The Monday service reduces the journey between the two destinations to approximately five hours, compared with around 13–18 hours when travelling through transit hubs such as Hong Kong, Beijing or Incheon.

The new route creates opportunities on both sides of the market. Mongolian travellers gain easier access to India’s Buddhist heritage, pilgrimage destinations and medical facilities, while Indian travellers receive a more convenient gateway to Mongolia’s landscapes, nomadic culture, winter experiences and historical attractions.

For Indian tour operators, the shorter journey time could make Mongolia more practical for special-interest, adventure, cultural and winter itineraries. The route also has potential to support business and trade links between the two countries.
