Tourism Malaysia doubles down on India with three-city B2B sales mission
This is arguably the most important India–Southeast Asia story of the day.
Tourism Malaysia has concluded its Sales Mission Series 2, covering Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi from 12–20 August. The mission brought 47 Malaysian tourism partners—including tour operators, hotels and airlines—face-to-face with Indian travel trade.

The numbers explain why Malaysia is investing so heavily: Malaysia received more than 1.5 million Indian visitors in 2025, placing India among its top five international source markets. Air connectivity is equally compelling, with 190+ direct flights a week and more than 37,000 weekly seats between India and Malaysia.
For Indian outbound operators, this is not just another roadshow. It indicates Malaysia’s intention to turn India into a sustained volume-and-value market through 2026 and beyond. Tourism Malaysia’s India engagement
The development also builds on Malaysia’s broader effort to diversify beyond its traditional high-volume destinations and create new opportunities for the Indian travel trade. Malaysia’s emerging destination strategy
Trade takeaway: Expect greater Malaysia product segmentation, more airline-hotel-tour-operator partnerships and stronger Indian B2B campaigns.
