Hong Kong’s recovery keeps its summer campaign in play

HKTB said provisional visitor arrivals for May reached 4.46 million , up 9% year on year, taking January–May arrivals to about 23 million , up 14% . The board also launched “Hong Kong Summer Fun” with hundreds of thousands of offers tied to attractions, dining, transport and shopping, a reminder that destination marketing in Asia is increasingly tied to spend stimulation, not just footfall.

Hong Kong’s growth mix shows long-haul strength.

HKTB’s May figures showed long-haul arrivals rising 22% year on year and cumulative long-haul arrivals up 20% , even as short-haul markets were softer because of Middle East tensions, oil prices and reduced flight capacity. That matters for hotels and attractions because it suggests a more premium visitor mix is returning, even if regional volatility remains.

Hong Kong’s summer push is built for spend, not just arrivals.

HKTB said its summer campaign would distribute hundreds of thousands of “Summer Deals” across attractions, dining, transport and shopping. That is a useful template for other Asian cities, because the next stage of tourism recovery is increasingly about revenue per visitor rather than visitor counts alone.
