Maharashtra has begun preliminary planning for the development of Sindhudurg under its “One State, One Destination” approach. The initiative aims to bring tourism infrastructure, visitor facilities, digital promotion, local participation and destination branding under a coordinated development plan. Sindhudurg offers a diverse tourism mix that includes beaches, coastal forts, marine biodiversity, traditional cuisine, rural experiences and water-based activities. Authorities are considering tourism circuits that can connect attractions while encouraging visitors to stay longer and explore beyond individual beaches. The strategy could create new opportunities for homestays, resorts, local guides, transport providers, artisans and food businesses while establishing Sindhudurg as a more structured year-round coastal destination.
