Lufthansa Group Names Lorenza Maggio as CEO of Brussels Airlines

Lufthansa Group has appointed Lorenza Maggio as the new Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Airlines, subject to approval by the Board of Directors of SN Airholding. She will take over from Dorothea von Boxberg, who will leave the company at her own request with effect from August 31, 2026.

Alongside her new role at Brussels Airlines, Maggio will also serve as the Executive Board Representative to the European Commission, strengthening the group’s leadership presence in Brussels at a time when European aviation continues to face regulatory, sustainability and competitiveness challenges.

Maggio, an Italian national, has been serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of ITA Airways since January 2025. In her role as Chief Strategy and Integration Officer, she has been closely involved in the airline’s integration into the Lufthansa Group and its long-term strategic development.

Her career within the wider Lufthansa ecosystem includes several senior leadership positions. She previously served as Vice President Sales for Lufthansa Group’s network airlines across Europe, excluding home markets, as well as the Middle East and Africa. She has also held key roles related to brand and customer strategy at Eurowings and has led an LSG Group subsidiary as Managing Director.

Dieter Vranckx, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding and Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Group, said Maggio brings strong international experience and deep knowledge of the airline industry. Her appointment also reflects Lufthansa Group’s decision to promote leadership talent from within its own ranks.
