IGLTA Pays Tribute to President & CEO John Tanzella
The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association has announced the passing of its President and CEO, John Tanzella, following an extended illness. Tanzella led the association for 20 years, playing a defining role in its growth into one of the world’s leading organizations dedicated to advancing inclusive tourism.
During his tenure, he championed equality, diversity and global collaboration across the travel industry, while expanding IGLTA’s international presence and strengthening its network of destinations, businesses and tourism professionals. He also helped establish the IGLTA Foundation, creating a platform to support education, research and philanthropic initiatives that promote inclusive travel worldwide.
In its official statement, IGLTA described Tanzella as a compassionate leader whose vision and generosity fostered a strong sense of community within the organization. The association noted that he built a dedicated leadership team and worked closely with its Board of Directors to ensure continuity during his absence.
IGLTA said it remains committed to carrying forward Tanzella’s vision and ensuring the organization he devoted two decades to continues to grow and thrive.
