BIADA Approves 7 New Hotels in Bihar, Expanding MICE Infrastructure with $120M Investment

The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has approved the development of seven new hotels across Bihar, India, marking a combined investment of approximately $120 million. The approvals, announced on June 2, are part of a broader push to strengthen the state’s hospitality infrastructure and attract Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) activity beyond India’s major metro cities.

Officials said the new hotel projects are aimed at improving business travel capacity in emerging tier-2 and tier-3 destinations, where demand has been rising due to increased industrial activity, government-led infrastructure expansion, and religious tourism. The initiative is also expected to create local employment opportunities while encouraging private investment in allied services such as travel, catering, and event management.

Industry observers note that Bihar’s hospitality pipeline has historically lagged behind larger states, but recent policy support and land allocation reforms are helping accelerate development. The new projects are expected to ease room shortages during peak pilgrimage seasons and position the state as a competitive alternative for regional conferences and mid-scale business events.
