Guyana Records 360,623 Visitors in First Nine Months

Guyana recorded 360,623 visitor arrivals between January and September 2026, putting the South American destination on course for another strong tourism year. The latest figure follows a record 2025, when the country welcomed 453,489 visitors, an increase of 22% from the previous year.

Tourism growth is being supported by expansion across accommodation, aviation and business events. Guyana has added internationally branded hotels as it works to increase room capacity and cater to rising visitor demand.

The country is increasingly positioning itself around nature, wildlife, adventure and authentic experiences, with its tourism proposition extending beyond conventional Caribbean travel. Its Amazonian landscapes, biodiversity and cultural attractions offer opportunities for experiential and specialist tourism.

The continued expansion of international connectivity and hotel infrastructure is also making it easier for the destination to handle larger visitor volumes.

For international tour operators, Guyana represents an emerging destination with potential in high-value nature and adventure tourism. Its growth also illustrates the wider trend of smaller markets investing in tourism infrastructure and international visibility to capture demand for less conventional destinations.
