Fraport Airports Handle 77.7 Million Passengers in First Half of 2026
Fraport reported handling 77.7 million passengers across its airport network during the first half of 2026, demonstrating steady growth despite softer traffic at Frankfurt Airport.
Passenger volumes increased 1% year-on-year, supported by strong international airport performance across the group’s global portfolio.
Frankfurt Faces Regional Challenges
Frankfurt Airport welcomed 28.9 million passengers, representing a 0.8% decline compared to the same period last year.
Traffic to the Middle East fell by 35% as regional conflict and airline disruptions affected travel demand.
International Markets Drive Growth
While Middle East traffic weakened, demand to Africa increased 8%, reaching 1.6 million passengers, while Far East routes grew 6.4% to 3.3 million travellers.
Across the wider Fraport network, international airports helped offset slower performance in Germany, highlighting the value of a diversified airport portfolio.
In June alone, Frankfurt handled 5.7 million passengers, down 1.7% year-on-year, reflecting ongoing operational and geopolitical challenges.
