Thailand Reverts to Visa on Arrival for Indians

​In a major policy U-turn, the Thailand Cabinet has officially dismantled the highly popular 60-day visa-free entry scheme for 93 nations, including India. Originally introduced to jumpstart post-pandemic economic recovery, the broad exemption created massive regulatory headaches for local law enforcement, who cited an unsustainable surge in chronic visa overstays and undocumented foreign businesses.
​The immigration framework is shifting back to a strictly monitored, tiered system.

Note

The policy change becomes legally binding 15 days after its upcoming publication in the Royal Gazette. It is not retroactive anyone crossing the border prior to the official enforcement date will be granted the full stay stamped on their passport.
