Malaysia Strengthens Focus on India Ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026
Malaysia is positioning India as one of its most important growth markets under the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign. Tourism officials revealed that the country welcomed approximately 1.5 million Indian visitors in 2025, marking a significant increase driven by visa-free entry and enhanced air connectivity, with more than 240 weekly flights linking the two countries. Beyond increasing arrivals, Malaysia is focusing on attracting higher-spending travellers through luxury experiences, shopping tourism, and improved payment convenience through planned integration between India’s UPI system and Malaysia’s payment network. Promoting its multicultural identity, Malaysia invites Indian travellers to experience its unique blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures under the theme “Surreal Experiences.”
