Middle East

The Middle East continues to cast a shadow over international connectivity

Regional security concerns continued to affect Middle Eastern aviation, with reported disruption across hubs including Dubai, Riyadh, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Cairo.

One 4 October snapshot recorded 1,590 delays and 74 cancellations across affected airports, while other reporting identified thousands of delays and hundreds of cancellations across wider Asian aviation networks.

Saudi Arabia’s tourism infrastructure and principal airports nevertheless remained operational, despite some airline suspensions and route adjustments.

Trade takeaway: Middle East routings remain commercially vital to India, Europe and Asia. The lesson for travel companies is not to abandon the region, but to build more resilient routing and rebooking strategies. The importance of the region to Indian outbound travel is also visible in Dubai and Indonesia’s moves for the Indian traveller.
