Thailand Promotes Wellness Tourism as ‘Healing is the New Luxury’ for Indian Travellers
Thailand is strengthening its appeal among Indian travellers by expanding its focus beyond traditional leisure tourism and positioning wellness as a key pillar of its tourism strategy. Already one of the most popular international destinations for Indians, Thailand welcomed approximately 2.4 million Indian visitors last year and expects that number to grow further in the coming years.
Tourism officials highlighted that Thailand offers experiences for every type of traveller, from family-friendly attractions and theme parks to luxury resorts, cultural experiences, and wellness retreats. However, the country’s latest campaign, unveiled at SATTE, places a strong emphasis on health, rejuvenation, and holistic well-being under the theme “Healing is the New Luxury.”

The campaign reflects changing traveller preferences in the post-pandemic era, where health and wellness have become increasingly important considerations when planning holidays. Thailand is leveraging its reputation as a global wellness destination by promoting world-class spas, wellness resorts, and specialised rejuvenation centres across destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, and Hua Hin.
One of the country’s most recognised wellness establishments is Chiva-Som in Hua Hin, which has attracted high-end international travellers, including visitors from India, seeking transformative wellness experiences. In addition to luxury wellness retreats, Thailand offers a broad range of health-focused experiences that cater to different budgets and travel styles, making wellness tourism more accessible to a wider audience.
Officials also emphasised Thailand’s long-standing reputation for hospitality, which continues to be a major factor behind its popularity among Indian travellers. Combined with strong air connectivity, diverse tourism products, and a welcoming atmosphere, the destination offers a familiar and comfortable environment that many Indian visitors appreciate.
Beyond wellness, Thailand continues to attract families, couples, and leisure travellers with its beaches, shopping, entertainment, cuisine, cultural heritage, and adventure activities. The country’s ability to cater to multiple traveller segments remains one of its greatest strengths.
As Thailand continues to diversify its tourism offerings, the wellness sector is expected to play an increasingly important role in driving future growth. By combining world-class hospitality with health-focused experiences, Thailand is positioning itself as a destination where travellers can not only relax and explore but also recharge and rejuvenate, making it an attractive choice for the evolving needs of modern Indian travellers.
