The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has introduced “Healing Is the New Luxury,” a new campaign aimed at strengthening Thailand’s position as a leading wellness and medical tourism destination for GCC travellers.
Thailand expects more than 600,000 visitors from the GCC by the end of 2026, including over 150,000 travellers from the UAE. The country has also expanded air connectivity to approximately 140 flights per week between the UAE and Thailand.
The campaign brings together luxury hospitality, internationally equipped hospitals and clinics, traditional Thai therapies, preventive healthcare, wellness programmes, cuisine, nature and cultural experiences. Thailand has more than 400 hospitals and clinics equipped to serve overseas visitors, while its health tourism sector generated approximately 125 billion baht in 2025.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the campaign reflects increasing demand for travel experiences that support physical and emotional wellbeing. She added that Thailand remains a safe, accessible and welcoming year-round destination for Middle Eastern travellers.
GCC visitors typically stay between 10 days and three weeks. UAE travellers spend an average of more than 100,000 baht per trip, while GCC medical travellers spend approximately 107,662 baht.
Alongside Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai, TAT is promoting Khao Yai, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi and Trat to encourage longer stays and multi-destination travel.
