Tewolde Gebremariam Appointed to Lead Air India’s Next Growth Phase
Air India has appointed Tewolde Gebremariam as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, succeeding Campbell Wilson. The leadership change comes as the airline moves beyond merger integration and fleet commitments towards operational execution, international expansion and profitability. Gebremariam previously led Ethiopian Airlines through a major transformation, during which the carrier’s revenue increased more than fourfold and its fleet nearly tripled. His experience spans long-haul network development, safety, engineering, maintenance infrastructure and global hub operations. The appointment places an experienced airline turnaround specialist at the centre of Air India’s efforts to improve reliability, passenger experience and competitiveness against major international network carriers.
