India’s International Air Capacity Falls 3.3% in August

India’s international scheduled airline capacity has declined 3.3% year-on-year in August, falling to 7.89 million seats from 8.09 million last year. Overall capacity stands at 23.5 million seats, down 1.5%, with domestic services accounting for 67% of the market. IndiGo remains the largest airline with 11.7 million seats and a 50% capacity share, followed by Air India with 3.3 million seats. Delhi stands out among major airports, recording a 17.2% increase in domestic capacity to 2.88 million seats. The numbers indicate that geopolitical disruption continues to affect international flying even as demand remains strong on several domestic routes.
