India finally drops the boarding-pass stamp at immigration

From 1 September, international passengers departing India will no longer need their boarding passes stamped by immigration officials.

The Bureau of Immigration is moving towards a digital process under which passengers can present electronic or printed boarding passes without the traditional immigration stamp.

It may sound like a tiny procedural change, but for India’s rapidly expanding international aviation system it is significant.
