Formula 1 proves once again that events can move an entire destination
Malaysia’s return of Formula 1 to Sepang is already showing measurable travel impact. Trip.com said international flight bookings to Kuala Lumpur more than doubled year-on-year within days of the announcement, while hotel bookings in Sepang surged by more than 1,600%.
The BTS Kuala Lumpur concert produced another striking result: activated users on Trip.com rose more than 640% on the concert presale day, while more than 12,000 concert tickets were sold through the platform.
B2B takeaway: Events are no longer merely tourism add-ons. They are demand generators for flights, hotels, transfers, attractions and MICE inventory.
