Europe remains a powerhouse — Spain passes 70 million arrivals by August
Spain welcomed 12.3 million international tourists in August 2026, up 9.2% year on year.
For January–August, arrivals reached almost 70.4 million, up 5.4%. The UK remained the largest source market, contributing more than 13.9 million visitors, followed by France at around 9.3 million and Germany at more than 8.2 million.
Why it matters to Asian outbound sellers: Europe remains one of the most important long-haul products for affluent Asian travellers. The broader long-haul travel market from India is being reshaped by pricing, capacity and geopolitical factors.
The data also suggests that European destinations continue to benefit from robust demand despite higher travel costs and geopolitical uncertainty.
