Mumbai Airport Keeps Winter Flight Slots Intact as Redevelopment Plans Are Reworked
Airlines operating at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will retain their existing winter flight allocations after the airport operator assured carriers that scheduled slots would not be disturbed. The decision follows discussions involving airlines, Mumbai International Airport Limited and the Civil Aviation Ministry.
A proposal affecting 265 weekly international departure slots has been set aside for the coming winter season. The issue arose from plans to rebuild Terminal 1 and accommodate displaced domestic traffic, alongside the proposed redistribution of services to Navi Mumbai International Airport. A joint working group is expected to develop the implementation plan.
B2B impact: The assurance reduces near-term uncertainty for agents holding winter bookings and international connections through Mumbai. Airport redevelopment and future capacity changes remain important, so travel sellers should continue checking terminal information, transfer arrangements and subsequent airline schedule announcements.
