QATAR WELCOMES 2.61 MILLION VISITORS IN NINE MONTHS; GCC DOMINATES SOURCE MARKETS
Qatar Tourism’s latest data reveals 2.614 million visitors arrived in the first nine months of 2026, with September alone contributing 276,000 arrivals—a modest 1.1 percent year-on-year increase. More significantly for regional B2B operators, GCC markets accounted for 40.9 percent of all arrivals (1.069 million visitors), followed by Asia-Oceania at 21 percent (548,000) and Europe at 20.6 percent (538,000).
The data reflects Qatar’s evolving positioning as a regional hub rather than a pure long-haul destination. After a sharp March dip to just 63,000 visitors amid West Asian flight disruptions, Qatar’s tourism recovery trajectory has been steep: 129,000 in April, 267,000 in May, 222,000 in June.
B2B Takeaway: Qatar’s GCC-dominant source mix creates natural advantages for intra-regional MICE, stopover packages, and weekend leisure products. Hoteliers should calibrate inventory toward short-stay, high-frequency regional guests rather than European long-haul.
