Odisha makes an aggressive pitch for the next wave of tourism investment
Odisha used the 7th Odisha Travel Bazaar to unveil a new tourism portal and an online investment-incentive system aimed at attracting domestic and international capital into tourism infrastructure.
The state’s strategy reportedly includes around ₹1,500 crore in tourism infrastructure allocation for 2026–31, alongside a 5,500-acre tourism land bank. The emphasis is on accommodation, digital services, visitor safety and experience-led tourism. This builds on Odisha’s tourism reset and the state’s push to attract private capital through new tourism policies.
Why it matters: Odisha is attempting to move beyond the traditional beach-and-heritage proposition towards an investment-led destination model.
For hotel groups, DMCs and tour operators, that potentially means more inventory and more product in a state that remains underdeveloped relative to India’s established tourism markets. The state’s wider hotel expansion story is also relevant to this shift.
