India’s travel numbers show domestic tourism doing the heavy lifting
The Ministry of Tourism dashboard reports 4.286 billion domestic tourist visits in 2025, up 45.6% from 2024. It also reports 20.22 million international tourist arrivals, including 9.15 million foreign tourist arrivals and 11.07 million NRI arrivals.
Early 2026 data show foreign tourist arrivals up 5.34% against the comparable 2025 period, while Indian national departures were down 4.27% in the dashboard’s latest reporting period. Ministry of Tourism
