Batik Air Expands Network with Shanghai, Sydney Direct Services

Malaysia‘s Batik Air is making strategic moves in the APAC aviation space with new direct services to Shanghai and Sydney launching this month . The Kuala Lumpur–Shanghai service, commencing June 23 , will operate with Boeing 737 aircraft, with economy fares starting from RM399. The service complements existing Batik Air routes to six other Chinese cities, signalling Malaysia’s intent to capture a larger share of China’s outbound travel market.

The Kuala Lumpur–Sydney non-stop service, launching July 1, will utilise Airbus A330 aircraft on a seven-times-weekly schedule, with economy fares starting from RM749. This expansion aligns with Malaysia’s broader Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign, aimed at increasing international visitor arrivals through enhanced air connectivity.
