ID Only: The End of Red Tape Between Zimbabwe and Botswana.

The border isn’t a wall anymore. It’s barely even a line.

Zimbabwe and Botswana just decided that passports are outdated. Presidents Mnangagwa and Masisi looked at the crossing points and scrapped the red tape.

Here is the new reality: You have an ID card? You’re crossing. You get 90 days. No questions, no visa fees.

This matters. It’s not just a policy shift; it’s a correction. For decades, these borders have been colonial ghosts, dictating who belongs where. This agreement finally exorcises them. It strips away the bureaucratic friction that turns a simple family visit or a business trip into a logistical nightmare.

Watch Botswana closely.

They aren’t waiting around. They already did this with Namibia. They are stitching Southern Africa back together, one agreement at a time. While the rest of the world talks about “global villages,” Botswana is actually building one.

Economically? It’s a no-brainer.

Barriers cost money. Time costs money. By deleting the passport requirement, these nations are merging their markets. It’s the same bold energy we’re seeing from Kenya and Rwanda.

The message is simple, and it’s powerful: We are neighbors. The door is unlocked.
