Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves Proposal to Rename Jewar Airport as Narendra Modi International Airport

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to rename Noida International Airport at Jewar as “Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar.” The decision was announced following the Cabinet meeting on October 9, 2026, and marks the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public life, according to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The airport’s IATA code (DXN) will remain unchanged, but official name displays, branding, and booking information will require updates. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the airport on March 28, 2026, with domestic flight operations beginning on June 15. International operations are expected to commence in December 2026.

The airport was developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, under a public-private partnership.

Trade angle: The airport’s development has implications for the National Capital Region’s future aviation capacity, hotel investment, ground transport, and destination access. The renaming should be described as a proposal approved by the state Cabinet, not as a completed legal or operational change, unless further official confirmation is available. Agents should monitor official channels for updated branding and booking system changes.
