Asia’s hotel boom is no longer just about filling rooms in the usual capitals. The money is moving — and so are the brands.
Minor Hotels will bring its first property to Hanoi in 2028: the 310-key Avani+ Hanoi, part of a mixed-use development that also includes 1,099 residences and serviced apartments, with meeting space, dining, an indoor pool, and a fitness centre designed for corporate, long-stay, and leisure demand. But the same group is also heading to Jadcherla, outside Hyderabad — a 185-key Anantara resort on 37 waterfront acres, with 47 pool villas and 50 branded residences, opening in 2029.
That is the pattern. International hospitality capital is no longer waiting for the next Mumbai or Bangkok. It is following the traveller — to pilgrimage corridors, emerging leisure catchments, and mixed-use districts. IHCL’s 300-key Taj Rameswaram, spread across 70 acres with direct beach access and proximity to the Ramanathaswamy Temple, will take its Tamil Nadu portfolio to 35 hotels, including 16 under development.
The numbers tell the same story. APAC hotel investment reached US$17 billion in 2025, up 51.9% from US$11.2 billion in 2024, according to Global Asset Solutions’ transaction analysis. Across the region’s branded pipeline since 2019, 84–88% of signed deals have been outside roughly 20 first-tier gateway cities, per Horwath HTL. And in India, RateGain data showed bookings up 36% in volume and 82% in value in the first eight days of September, with corporate travel, government movement, and MICE driving larger, longer stays.
The B2B travel trade now faces a harder question than “Where are the rooms?” — “Who gets there first?”
