Tawang to Host International Tourism Mart 2026 After More Than a Decade
Tawang, one of Northeast India’s most scenic destinations, is set to host the 14th International Tourism Mart during the final week of October 2026. Returning to Arunachal Pradesh after more than a decade, the event marks a significant milestone for the region’s tourism industry, with Tawang last hosting the prestigious tourism mart in 2013.
The event is expected to bring together tourism boards, travel operators, buyers, investors, hospitality leaders, and media representatives from across India and overseas, creating new opportunities to promote the Northeast as a leading travel destination.
Preparations Underway Across Tawang
Authorities have begun extensive preparations to ensure the successful hosting of the event. Planning covers accommodation, transportation, security arrangements, convention facilities, and visitor movement along the Guwahati–Tawang corridor, which serves as the primary gateway for delegates.
Tourism officials have inspected key venues, including Vivanta Tawang, Kalawangpo Convention Hall, and PTSO, to assess infrastructure readiness and ensure a seamless experience for participants.
The coordinated effort aims to strengthen Tawang’s ability to host large-scale tourism and business events while showcasing the destination’s growing hospitality capabilities.
Showcasing Northeast India’s Tourism Potential
The International Tourism Mart will serve as a platform to highlight the diverse tourism experiences offered across Northeast India. Delegates will have the opportunity to explore the region’s Buddhist heritage, spectacular mountain landscapes, adventure tourism, vibrant indigenous cultures, and community-based tourism initiatives.
By promoting sustainable and experiential travel, the event is expected to encourage greater domestic and international interest in destinations that remain relatively unexplored compared to other parts of India.
Creating New Business Opportunities
Beyond destination promotion, the tourism mart will facilitate networking between tourism boards, destination management companies, hotels, travel agencies, investors, and media organisations.
The event is expected to generate new partnerships, strengthen regional tourism marketing, and encourage investment in hospitality infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh and the wider Northeast.
With India’s domestic and international tourism sectors continuing to expand, hosting the International Tourism Mart further reinforces Tawang’s growing importance as a gateway to Northeast India’s unique cultural and natural attractions.
