15 Lava International Associates Killed in Vietnam Boat Tragedy During Company Trip

A company incentive trip to Vietnam turned tragic after a tourist speedboat carrying Indian visitors capsized near Hon May Rut Ngoai Island, off Phu Quoc, on 11 July, claiming the lives of 15 Indian nationals. The vessel was carrying 32 Indian tourists along with Vietnamese crew members when it overturned shortly after departing the island. Rescue teams, local authorities and nearby boat operators managed to save 21 people, while several injured passengers were taken to hospital, with two reported to be in critical condition.

Lava International confirmed that the victims included 14 of its channel partners and one company team member who were participating in a reward and incentive trip organised for distributors and business associates from southern India. In an official statement, the company said, “We are deeply saddened to confirm that 14 of our channel partners and one member of our team have tragically lost their lives in this unforeseen accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this incredibly difficult time.”

The Indian Embassy in Vietnam has established emergency assistance centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to support affected families and coordinate with Vietnamese authorities. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences, stating that the Embassy is extending all possible assistance to those impacted by the tragedy. Vietnamese authorities have launched an investigation into the incident while reviewing maritime safety procedures in the area.
