MACAO: MITE 2026 Opens Tomorrow (10TH APR) – Central Asian Trade Delegation Makes First Visit

MACAO – The 14th Macao International Travel Expo (MITE 2026) kicks off tomorrow (April 10) at The Venetian, but the real B2B action started today with a pre-opening “Trade Gathering Mini-Mart” .

Who was in the room: Nearly 40 Macao hospitality and travel suppliers met with delegates from six overseas travel associations :

  • MATTA (Malaysia)
  • NATAS (Singapore)
  • ASTINDO (Indonesia)
  • TTAA (Thailand)
  • KATA (Korea)
  • APAVT (Portugal)

Plus – and this is the quiet signal – a first-ever delegation from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan) organized in partnership with China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism .

Why this is trade-relevant: Macao is systematically expanding beyond Greater China source markets. The Central Asia move is new. For DMCs and tour operators watching outbound shifts, this suggests MGTO is seeding partnerships in markets most Western operators ignore – which means early-mover advantage for anyone paying attention.

What’s on the MITE 2026 agenda (April 10–12):

  • 130+ themed sessions including destination presentations, industry forums, workshops
  • “2026 China–Spain–Portugal Tourism Products Promotion – Corporate Session” (April 10)
  • Greater Bay Area Tourism Development Forum focusing on wellness tourism and the silver economy Logistics for your team onsite: Public admission is free. Exhibitors are running Expo-limited offers. The “MAK MAK grand lucky draw” requires 300 patacas minimum purchase .
