ATTA: Fostering Global Collaboration in Adventure
The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) is taking a new, more collaborative approach to uniting the global adventure travel community .
A New Alliance
In late January, ATTA convened leaders from more than 20 adventure travel associations across six continents for the first-ever Global Associations for Adventure Travel Meeting .
The Philosophy: ATTA CEO Shannon Stowell articulated a clear principle: local comes first. “If a company can only afford one association’s membership dues, it should be its local one first,” he stated, positioning ATTA as a supportive global connector, not a competitor .
Structured Collaboration: The group agreed to establish regular global touchpoints (quarterly or bi-annual meetings) to share insights, align strategies, and respond collectively to shared challenges like regulatory pressure, climate disruptions, and economic uncertainty .
Data for All: ATTA launched a new public platform showcasing six years of its Trends & Insights data, making sector intelligence freely available to support policy advocacy and informed decision-making across the industry .
The world’s top global tourism organizations are not just maintaining the status quo; they are actively reshaping it.
ATTA is pioneering a new model of collaborative support for local associations worldwide.
The message is clear: global tourism governance is consolidating, collaborating, and becoming more strategic than ever before.
